European
Cystitis
Observatory

An observatory to shed light on a condition as widespread as it is invisible: chronic and recurrent cystitis.

Why ECO

ECO was created to fill a gap. There was no dedicated observatory — in Italy or across Europe — focused on recurrent cystitis and capable of rigorously documenting how this condition affects people's lives, predominantly women.

ECO aims to provide, for the first time:

Updated and accessible data

on prevalence, recurrence and trends over time, to inform and raise awareness;

A 360° perspective

on daily experience, emotional and social impact, direct and indirect costs, and treatments;

Declared methodology and stated limitations

to support responsible use and reuse of findings.

Who We Are

ECO is a research initiative promoted by Dimann to gather and share evidence on recurrent cystitis in a clear, accurate and respectful way.

We work to bring visibility to what is often overlooked, by declaring our methods and limitations and contextualising the data, so that patients, caregivers, professionals and decision-makers can rely on understandable and useful information.

We are open to future collaborations with clinical, advocacy and research organisations, in respect of editorial independence and the dignity of those involved.

Methodology

We apply transparent procedures at every stage: from questionnaire design to data cleaning, through to publishing results in accessible formats.

Declared sampling and criteria; weights and thresholds reported in full;

Translated and tested instruments; analysis with uncertainty indicators and quality controls;

Explicit limitations (coverage, bias, self-selection) and release versioning.
