European Cystitis Observatory (ECO)
European
Cystitis Observatory
An observatory to give visibility to a condition that is as invisible as it is widespread: chronic and recurrent cystitis.
Why ECO
ECO was created to fill a void. Lacking in Italy and in Europe was a dedicated observatory for recurrent cystitis that could carefully and rigorously highlight how much the condition impacts the lives of people-mostly women.
ECO wants to offer, for the first time:
Up-to-date and readable data
on prevalence, recidivism, and trends over time to inform and raise awareness;
A 360-degree reading
on daily experience, emotional and social impact, direct and indirect costs, and treatment;
Stated method and explicit limits
To encourage responsible use and reuse of the results.

Understanding Recurrent and Chronic Cystitis —
Psychological impact of an ongoing battle. Evidence from Italy.
Analysis of more than 25,000 responses: trends, impact on quality of life, and clinical evidence.
Who we are
ECO is a research initiative sponsored by Dimann to collect and disseminate evidence on recurrent cystitis in a clear, accurate, and respectful manner.
We work to give visibility to what often remains in the margins, declaring methods and limitations and curating the context of the data, so that patients, caregivers, professionals and decision makers can count on understandable and useful information.
We are open to future collaborations with clinical, association and research entities, respecting the independence of the content and the dignity of the people involved.
Methodology
We apply transparent procedures at every stage: from questionnaire construction to data cleaning to publishing the results in accessible formats.
