What is the difference between a urine culture and a urethral swab?

Hello Friend,

Have you also had cystitis symptoms, but you were confused about the test to run: urine culture or urethral swab? 🤔

This question crossed my mind several times, and I felt like a Rave Party of bacteria was taking place in my bladder. 😅

I’ll explain the difference between a urine culture and a urethral swab to take the guesswork out of it right away. 😘

To find out if you have cystitis, I suggest you perform a urine culture.
Urine culture is the urine test that allows you to detect the presence or absence of an infection in your bladder (your urine reservoir), allowing you to know the type of bacteria that is attacking it. 🙅‍♀️

Urethral swab: the small tube that carries urine from the bladder and detects an infection in the urethra.

One test does not exclude the other, but I suggest you always go to your doctor and discuss with him the symptoms and causes of your discomfort.
